Through history, there are characters that are icons to all of us, which can inspire us or make us fear; one of them is Queen Elizabeth, whose strong attitude was fundamental to European history. Way beyond a Disney’s fairly tale.
Elizabeth I was Queen of England between 1558 to her dead in 1603. Also named “The Virgin Queen.” Her life is not the frequent and widespread tale of a princess that became a queen: She was born as a princess, but her mother, was executed three years after her birth, so Elizabeth was declared illegitimate. Her brother, cut her out of the succession. His will, however, was set aside, and in 1558 Elizabeth succeeded her half-sister. A truly modern T.V. soup opera.
She was the leader of a nation in a brave new world, with a long term war against Spain, an economical crisis and indomitables new lands to take over, Elizabeth’s job wasn’t easy, but her charisma and magnetism helped her to succeed against all difficulty. This well know virgin queen knew how to handle the situation.
The movie “Elizabeth, The Golden Age” is summarized in the scene of the assassination attempt in the church, where the murderer was hypnotized by the halo of light that covered “The Virgin Queen”, he was astonish for her figure that evoked the power anoint by God and inherit through tradition.
When the worlds collided, all was tumbling down and where religion and politics were together, she knew how to persist. She is an Icon to all England, as a Queen whom never showed fear or lack of power. Thought her charms and good political choices she could move on. Therefore being a landmark in history.
